Interview
Questions:
How often do you go shopping in store?
  • Not really ----------- why? (why online)
    • Would you like to go to a store if there’s more promotion?
    • What kind of promotion/ reward will be attractive enough? 【1.2】
    • How much time you’d like to spend in store?
    • If there’s star collection, direct reward, which one would you prefer?【1.4】
      • Collect star: what kind of reward you’d like to get? One day/ one week / one month (like Starbucks)?
      • Direct reward:
* Only one BIG reward such as a TV/phone?
* Numerous Small rewards such as a coupon, coffee, or food
  • Yes ------------ for yourself?
    • Do you generally go directly to what you wish to buy/ look around?
      • Go directly: would you be willing to spend more time?
*【go to 1.2】
      • Hang out: what determines your direction?
* How much MORE time you’d be willing to spend?
*【Go to 1.4】
  • Yes ------------ aside with others?
    • Who do you generally go shopping with?
    • Are you generally looking around together with them or you just waiting for them?
      • Waiting
* How do you spend the waiting time?
* If you just sit somewhere, does it mean that you’re tired/ just not interested
* If there’s coupon in store, but not clear where it is, would you be willing to walk around/ still just want to play phones
* If you leave your partner and walk around (use the App to get coupon), what kind of potential problems do you think there could be?
* 【Go to 1.4】

Findings:
From the interview, I found out that there’s is such problems and relative targeted customers. Also, playing phone is truly the most common way how people spend their waiting time. However, there’s also some findings that surprised me:
  • Not all people are interested in BIG reward such as a TV, a phone or some expensive electronics, which are generally considered attractive for men. Because for them, electrical devices such as phones, TVs are not something they wanna change very frequently.
  • People do care that leaving their partners alone for too long might cause problems
  • Instead of having one time reward or promotion, collecting starts like how Starbucks did is also attractive enough, and make these stars time valuable is an option as well.
  • For people who have children, they don’t take their children when go shopping, but for moms who take their children with them, they would never allow their children to leave them

  • People would be likely to spend 20min - 1hr more time on one single store

For my MVP
After the interview, I’m thinking of the “star collecting” model, and I would think more about how difficult the “game” would be. Also, I would think more from the aspect of retailers to determine whether these stars would be one day available or long term available, and whether the coupon they get would be one day available or long term available.
Specifically, instead of setting “stars” or coupons too randomly, I’m considering:
  • Putting more figures, but users would have to screenshot the figure in the specific direction and fit them in specific shape or frame
  • Not changing the location of the figures but change their behavior, and the location of the figures would be paid and offered by sellers

AR Assignment 5 (Due Mar 2nd)

AR Assignment 4 (Due Feb 23)
For this assignment, I tried to build a scenario that there's a Pikachu living insider my mobile charger, and because of the texture of my mobile charger, I added a marker on it to trigger the model and added a black layer in my model to cover the marker.
I wish that I could add animation of Pikachu release current and charge itself once I learned more.

AR Assignment 3 (Due Feb 16)
Oral narrative along with the video

AR Assignment 2 (Due Feb 9)

For my second assignment, I did AR based on my LEGO Chrismas tree ball. I removed the case outside, which made it less recognizable, and in my animation, I made the Christmas tree swinging, add falling snow and floating sentence "Do you wanna build a snowman". I think this could work as a way of adverting. Setting this scene, children might be more lightly to purchase this item during Christmas holiday, which is the time for gifting as well!

Here's my video with a brief narrative.

Memory Assignment 1

Last month, some of my friends and I went to Windham Snow Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding.

I picked this memory because I really love playing with snow. I grow up in a city where there's no snow at all, and then I went to college at Ohio, where there's always snow and I went to skii every winter. The snow park I went at Ohio didn't have very high mountain, nor did it contain high level slopes with bumps. Thus, I'm very excited to see the long and difficult ski track and to see how skilled skiiers and snowboarders playing on it.

Here's the overview of the scene I built. Unfortunately,  I built it a little bit too long to be shown in one single picture, so the screenshot cannot really show the slope of the track.

Fun facts:
- I, personally, am a goofy on snowboarding, and I did try to build the snowboarder as a goofy as well, but his gesture didn't allow. I might try to change his gesture after I learned more advanced skills.
- Additionally, I add two snowmen in the scene, one sitting on the lift (not applicable in snow park) and one taking care of the skiiboards.

- Together with the snowman on the lift, there's a skiier relatively, and I imagined his action as waving hands and saying hello to the snowman sitting on the lift.

- Finally, there's another picture showing all three people on the snow trail.
