Week 9

My Leaf Collector/ My Little Forest Interview Question Summary

    1. How old are you? What grade are you in?
    4-8 years old
    1. Do you like playing outside? What you like the most about the experience? What you dislike about the experience? Why?
    Yes, run outside with friends.
    1. How do you identify Leaves/the leaf?
    Different colors, size, and shape.
    1. How do you know trees?
    From different leaves.
    1. Do you know the relationship between trees and seasons?
Leaves have different colors in different seasons. Winter has no leaves
    1. Do you take Bio class this semester/ Have you ever taken any Bio classes? Can you describe it?
No/ science class. Teach basic science knowledge with a little experiment.
    1. How do you know greenhouse effect/Co2 emission?
    No/ Heard of it.
    1. How do you know the relationship between plants and our earth?
Plants are good for the earth.
    1. Have you ever grown any plants?/ Have you ever plant a tree before?
    2. Do you have a pet? Why do you like to play with them? If you don’t really enjoy, why?
    Cute, can order them.
    1. Have you ever played Pokemon Go?
      1. What you like the most about the experience
      2. What you dislike about the experience, why
    No.
    1. How did you come to know about the game?
    Friends, families play it.
    1. Have you ever played Tamagotchi? Or any virtual pet? Do you like it? Why? Why you don’t like it?
    No
    1. If there’s an app that allows you to have your own forest (and you can bring it to alive if you complete all the task), what you need to do is to collect leaves(take photos of real leaves) to redeem seeds to plant the tree virtually at first, and after you have grown the tree to meet the standards, you can have an actual tree with your name in reality, and you can plant it anywhere in the world,  would you like to scavenger hunt for it?
Yes, I would like to have a virtual tree,
    1. From 1 to ten, Can you rate the device you like to use below: IPad, smartphone, PC
    Cell phone --Ipad-- PC
    1. From 1 to 10, can you rate the time of using the device below: iPad, smartphone, pc
    Ipad-Cell phone -- PC
Insights: Kids from K4-8 have a very limited and basic idea about the CO2 emission and greenhouse effect. They have very limited knowledge about how does the plant could benefit the environment as well. Most of their knowledge is from their parents or small workshops the teachers offered at the school. No systematic understanding of the target knowledge. As of the leaf identification, they have very basic idea about how to determine different leaves by comparing its form and color. Most of the 4-8 kids haven’t played pokemon go before, which is to say, they know little about AR technology. Also, they haven’t had virtual pets, which means they might need time to learn about the game and how it plays. However, most of them know about the game, which means they can take it to consider more easily. Kids love to have their own, real tree, but they don’t love to take care of it, so a virtual tree and a real tree which can be taken care of by others as a reward work better.

The MVP Plan

Our plan for the first stage of the design is to make this prototype to be clickable, with the key moments of the UX. AR will be fully testing it out in the second stage.
UX key moments include:
Login page
Homepage
Scan page
Info page
Collection page
Planting page
Tree growing page
Accomplishment page

Season changing page (the tree growing under different season/weather scenario)

Week 5

Week 4

For this week I am doing a campaign to raise the public attention to some big brands' issue of using child labor.
However, due to the tech issue, I wasn't able to make this project come true. I've tried tons of times in different methods, it just didn't work at all.

Here is the prototype for my idea.

Week 3

This week my idea is based on the famous novel, 1984. My original idea was to put the giant secret eye of the dollar bill everywhere in the sky, you know, big brother is watching you. The reason I'm using the dollar bill eye is because it often associated with the secret government, also it represents the trade and deal that happened behind the public sights.

Week 2 Homework

For this week, I designed a campaign for the cereal brand Cheerios, and UNICEF. The main concept is when users scan the cereal box, there will be an AR campaign giving user choice to share their box of Cheerios cereal with a low-income family (basically is asking for donating the food with very low cost), each box of Cheerios cereal you buy contains an opportunity to help with the low-income families of United States. This idea is intended to promote a low cost, easily accessible charity that allows everyone to make some difference and help others living in daily life.

Week 1 Memory Homework

Last year during summer break I went to one of the famous aquarium in northern China, the Dalian Sea World, to see the ocean walk which has a great reputation among the people. I was very impressed by the ocean walk, all kinds of fish swam behind the glass tube, and you can view the scene in almost 180 degrees when you are inside the ocean walk tube. Although the walk was very crowded, I was still amazed by the sight I have, it makes me feel like I am living underwater.
