< Final process >

music:  Daft Punk - Technologic

3D modeling

+ Mixamo ( animation )

<Final documentation storyboard>

I might shoot different situations and mix them together.

1. A girl listening to music + walking around outside -> watch the music video
2. Friends who are chilling together -> watch the music video
3. A guy studying at school + taking a rest -> watch the music video

I choose the music : Daft punk - technologic

how : Typography + 3d models

I tested different ways to find which is the best way to show dynamic animation.

week9 - CHANGED IDEA

AR music video- promotion music video for musicians when they release album

The musician can choose a specific location which fits to their music mood.

The users will follow the route and find the place.
When they get to that place, they can see/listen to the music and feel like they are inside of the music video.

Animation source -> using CINEMA 4d

week8 - Final project process

I tested with three types of music in Washington square park to feel the mood.

Working

  • Play/Mute music with button
  • Displaying music title/artist name

Not working ( TO DO )

  • Object is not fixed. It's unstable!!!
  • Object position is to close...
  • GPS
  • I need a better (more simple) shape of the model....like music note shape that people can realize it's something about music.
  • Beat detection - > change movement or scale
  • Maybe more interaction...?

Week 7 - process

-Speaker 3D Modeling

-Sound API test : Youtube API

Week5

Final Idea - Speakers in different location

WEEK 4

ARKit

My first idea was tracking a floor or a door of the elevator.
And I thought it would be fun if I make something with the ceiling.

For my final idea, I tried to make a hole or something that appears in the ceiling and then something comes out from that hole.

But It was kind of hard to measure the accurate size/position of the ceiling.
So I create the model first and tried to find a right place to document it.

1. Modeling (animation) with MAYA

2. Unity- ARkit

<Result>

Actually, It fits to mostly every place (ceiling) like Car, Room. But it was hard to fit into an accurate size of space.

<Outdoor>

<Car>

WEEK 3

Vuforia + Unity3D .  :  Starbucks logo

I wanted to make an interaction out of the target image. So my first Idea was when the UFO comes down, it will play with the Starbucks logo making some funny situation.

But I had a hard time making an animation with Unity.

For now, I just added a simple animation to UFO model and eyeballs to make it more activate.

WEEK 2

THE NEW YORK TIMES AR

For the trigger object, I choose "The New York Times" newspaper.

<Idea>

The project name can be "The New York Times : One day, One sentence"

Mostly big news, bad news cover the first page of the newspaper.

About that, I thought what if the words/characters can break apart from the news and create another sentence which has a positive and hopeful meaning.
So It could bring positive feelings to people.

<Process>

1. I choose one sentence.

"Keep Your Head Up High, Beautiful"

2. Scan

3. Break apart the characters I need - Photoshop

4. Animation - After effects

5. Aurasma studio

<Result>

WEEK 1

1. AR APP : GOOGLE TRANSLATOR APP

<Experience>

Because my first language is not English, there are lots of moment that I have to use English/Korean dictionary or language translator. And I have recently known that google translator app has an Augmented Reality feature. The process is very simple to use and the scanner is capturing the text quite accurately than I expected. For translating a short word, I think it's too much process. But for long sentences or for a bunch of words, It's pretty fast to translate them to another language at once. Even though it's not getting all the text perfectly, It's amazing.

And It's super cool that we don't need an internet connection to use this, because this app is using Word Lens which is using the built-in cameras on smartphones to quickly scan and identify foreign text and then translate and display the words in another language.

< Screenshot - How it works >

1. Find a word/page you want to translate and capture it.

2. Your built-in camera will scan all of the words in the screen.

3. It will outline the words automatically.

4. You can highlight the words and it will translate them to another language.

5. !!!!!

2. MEMORY

I went to Milan this summer and went to a swimming pool with my friend.
Why I pick this memory is I really love water, but couldn't swim at all and It was my first time floating on the water!!! It's one of my best memorable moment in my life!!
It was kind of hard to recreate the exact scene as I remembered it, because of the limitation of 3d models.
So I tried to represent my enjoyable feeling through this scene.

Instead of using Maya, I used Unity.
